2cent Tutorial: Organizing a Coupon Binder

We are always trying to think of ways to help you save.  So we thought we would add some video tutorials to our line up.  We asked on Facebook, and you said coupon organization would be helpful.  So here is our first (attempt) at a 2cent Tutorial video.

Highlights:

  • Start small and see what works best for you
  • Graduate to 3 ring binder with, pocket dividers, tab dividers, baseball card inserts and photo sleeve inserts
  • Separate into item categories (food, home, beauty, baby..) and by store (CVS, Walgreens, Kroger, Target, Misc)
  • Recycle junk mail envelopes to organize coupons for each trip
  • Use a tote bag to keep you binder and other coupon ”stuff” (scissors, unsorted coupons…) in one place

One thing I forgot to mention in the video.  It is often helpful to have a copy of the coupon policy in your binder for the stores at which you shop most often.  I do not actually have these in my binder right now, but when I “upgrade” I will be adding a policy pocket!  Till now I have never had the the need (or desire) to contest a coupon by showing the cashier in black and white. However, it would be nice to have if the need arises.  Hopefully it will then make you feel empowered that, yes you are using the coupons honestly and not trying to rip off the store!

Let us know what you thought of the video!  (I will try and get better light next time!)
