Serve.com: $20 in FREE Money!

OK, Who wants $20 in FREE Money!? Go sign up for a FREE account with Serve.com, a next-generation digital payments platform that helps you organize your money, send and receive funds, and manage payment requests. Very similar to Paypal. Don’t worry, Serve.com is a legit site – owned by American Express. That means Serve uses American Express security, technology, and data protection.

After signing up, you will receive a verification email. Click on the link in the email and enter the verification code sent in the email. (Make sure to check your spam folder if you don’t get this email).

Once you sign up for a FREE Serve.com account, you should instantly see that a $10 bonus has been added! You can then immediately request a check for $10 to be sent to your home at no cost. Allow 7 to 10 business days for delivery. I say “shuld” because I signed up last night and actually have not recieved my credit yet. But I called customer service and they said every new member will recieve the $10 credit, they are just a little backed up from the high traffic (ah yeah, free money!)

But wait, earn another $10 by playing Serve.com Money Mover game! (needs Flash). Just answer one trivia question correctly and you’ll score another FREE $10! And if you don’t answer correctly, you can keep playing until you get it right. (mine was insanely easy!) Once you answer correctly, you’ll be able to enter your email address and you will receive an email within the next business day with directions on how to claim your FREE $10!

So after you complete all of the steps above, you will have scored a total of $20 with just your time spent! Who wouldn’t want that!? Merry Christmas to yourself!

And to add to it, Serve.com has a decent referral program too. You can receive $5 referral credit to your Serve account for each friend who completes registration and sends money at least once from their Serve account. A maximum of $50 in referral credits may be earned through this promotion. The referred friend must use the link in the referral email to register for and send money from their Serve account. Offer limited to legal residents of the 50 U.S. & D.C., 18 or older. Valid for new Serve account holders only. Offer is subject to change or cancellation at anytime

If any one has experience with this company we would love to hear it!

Thanks Hip2Save and Common Sense with Money!

BEWARE OF THIS OFFER! Today I received an email requiring me to send a copy of my W-2 to finish my account verification! The email was very generic coming from “correspondence.”

As a CPA who has done a lot of fraud investigations over the years, this sets off a lot of red flags. $10 is NOT worth providing your social security number along with a lot of personal information that makes it easy for someone to steal your identity. There is no reason for a site that is essentially like paypal to require a social security number. This is not a credit application so they have NO VALID reason under federal law to be requesting this information. There are many, many safer ways to validate identity. The fact that they ask for a W-2 makes this offer look more like a phishing scam than something from a legitimate company.

Thanks for the feedback Heather. I have not heard of anyone being asked for that information (W2). I definetely agree, not worth it for a few bucks (even free ones). Although as far as the ss# goes, doesn’t PayPal also ask for ss# when creating an account? Either way, if you can get this offer without being asked for any of the other information, I still think it is worth a try. I have read on many sites that people have been happy with their $20 process. Like I commented on Facebook the other day, you could just get the $20 and run. ;) at least until they work out the kinks. I talked to a CS rep the other day and they were very helpful as well.
But thanks for warning, we always like to hear people’s experiences with the offers we post about.

I found this the other day by doing the MoneyMover game. Can’t for the life of me remember how I came across it. Anyway, when I signed up it only asked for the last 4 digits of my ss#. I got an email today about the $10 from the MoneyMover game and am about to accept the funds, but was doing some research before actually accepting. It says you have 7 days to accept transfer.

My only real ? is about the fees. I’ve read them, but man is their TOS HUMONGOUS! Makes me feel like they are trying to trick me somehow with all those pages! Most are not going to read that whole thing, and I skimmed it, but didn’t read it all myself.

I just want to make sure I’m not getting charged a bunch of fees just for having this account. I don’t plan on loading it with my bank account for sure. I already have paypal and am very happy with it for many years now. Don’t need another online banking source. I just did it for the $10 from MoneyMover.

Serve has been running a lot of banner ads all over the net. So I am sure you saw the Money Mover banner somewhere (I just saw it yesterday somewhere too).
Here is the thing about doing a “transfer”. When I signed up for the program, I opted not to attach/add any bank account information to the Serve account. You have the option of requesting a check be sent to you and there is no fee for that. So if I have no bank account attached to my Serve account- there is no risk of them charging me a fee. If you did attach a bank account (just like if you have a PayPal account). Then you can transfer it into your account without a fee. I think the only time they charge a fee is on ATM withdrawals on a Serve card. Once you accept the funds from the Money Mover email, you will see a link near your recent transactions that says “withdraw”. There you will see the check option and it clearly says NO FEES (several times). I just confirmed my $10 check.
If you have other concerns call CS at 1-800-954-0559. The were very helpful to me the other day
