Free Sam's Club for Non Members this Weekend

As we told you on Facebook, Sam's Club is open to non-members this weekend ONLY and they are not charging the 10% surcharge as usual.  I share a Costco membership and stop in there once a month to stock up on seafood, meats, lunchbox goodies and an occasional deal that I can't find anywhere else.
Before today I had not stepped foot in a Sam's Club in many moons. I checked with the greeter to make sure my presence was known and that I was not a member. He was less than welcoming but my experience there was fine. Other than not knowing the layout as I do Costco, I found most of the things I needed and then some. *In fact, there is a beautiful patio table/chairs that I liked...*Don't tell my husband! And no, I didn't buy it. =)
I got in line, waited 5 minutes, unloaded my groceries, waited another 2 minutes only to be told the "non-members" had to go to a different line because her cash register "doesn't do that". Frustrated, I had the tiniest bit of a fit. It's not like repacking your basket at CVS. This is Sam's Club. Huge and heavy things that constituted a very full cart. After apologizing to the poor person behind me, she found a new line and I spoke somewhat calmly to the manager. He reluctantly keyed in some manager magic and voila! I bought my groceries.
All of this to say, word of warning. Check with your local store as to how their check out process works for non-members to avoid this minor fiasco. Also, NOTE, if you are considering a Sam's Club membership, now is the time. My store was offering a $10 gift card to Sam's with a new membership (cost $35 or $40 depending on level).
What about you? Have you tried out Sam's lately or will you go this weekend?

Help Mid-Ohio Food Bank, Earn Free Tickets to Ringling Bros. Circus

Just wanted to remind our Central Ohio readers. Once again, Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey are going to help stock the shelves of the Mid-Ohio Foodbank! On Saturday, April 16th from 10 am to noon you can donate can food items in exchange for a voucher for one of the seven shows that will run at Nationwide Arena from May 12-15, 2011. This is a great opportunity to help out the community and get a little bonus for your family too! Each person that brings in 10 cans of nonperishable food to the donation event at Nationwide Arena on April 16 will receive one free ticket voucher for any of the seven performances when Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Presents BARNUM 200.  Check out our Grocery Gleaning posts to help you save on your can food donation. There will be a limit of two ticket vouchers per family and a limit of 400 total vouchers that will be given.

CVS 101: The Basics

If you are new to couponing it takes a little time to figure out each store's way of offering sales, coupons and savings in general.  Here are some basics for shopping at CVS.

What are Extra Care Bucks? CVS Extra Care Bucks or ECBs are rewards that you will receive for purchasing specific items at CVS. ECBs are basically store credits that can be used for future purchases. Always have your cashier scan your Rewards Card first so that you do not miss out on any Extra Care Bucks!  Don't have an ECBs card yet, get one today!

How will I know what products are issuing ECBs? Each week the Extra Care Buck deals are advertised in the weekly circular. The advertisement will indicate the limit allowed per card for that deal.

How do I get my ECBs? After you have purchased the required item(s) and checked out, the Extra Care Bucks will print at the end of your receipt. You can check the end of the receipt to see if you have purchased the maximum allowed on that particular deal. In some instances, you will find that the limit has been increased.
You will earn 2% cash back in the form of Extra Care Bucks on every purchase in-store and online. Every three months these Extra Bucks will print out at the end of your receipt. You can also earn one Extra Care buck for every two prescriptions purchased in-store or online.

What is “rolling ECBs”? Rolling ECBs is when you use ECBs that you have earned from one promotion to purchase ECBs from the current week’s promotion. The goal in playing "the drugstore game" is to pay the least amount possible out of pocket each week, by using the previous week's ECBs earnings.

What is a CRT? A CRT is a CVS coupon that can print at the end of your receipt OR from the "magic machine" in store. You can scan your ECB card daily (twice sometimes) at the Red Coupon Box and receive from one to several coupons. These coupons are CVS store coupons that can be stacked with Manufacturer’s coupons. The coupons at the Red Box change at the beginning of each week and generally include generic coupons or $/$$ coupons.

To be victorious in "the drugstore game", be sure to check out our weekly match-ups.  We highlight the deals that give you the most bang for your Extra Care Buck!

Thanks to Clipper Girl for the 411!

Cellfire: Win 50¢ or $3 Coupon, 4/14

Beginning at 6AM EST through 3PM EST today, April 14th, Cellfire members (electronic coupons you add onto your shoppers card) can snag a 50¢ or $3 coupon when they log into their Cellfire account. Everyone who logs into Cellfire during this 9 hour period will be a winner.

In the past when Cellfire has offered these promotions I have only earned 50 cents.  But look what I found today!  Note, this coupon expires in 3 days, 4/17!  This will be perfect when I go back to get another round of the GM cereal deal at Kroger!

Thanks, Hip2Save!
