Currently, you can earn 20 RecycleBank points just for signing up to join (this offer is good for NEW registrants only). A Little Off Topic But...

Today I got a little crazy and decided to tackle something that had gotten out of control...the kitchen junk drawer.  Everyone has one, right?  Well, ours was starting to take on a life of its own and I've got pictures to prove it.

Before:

And After:

What's in your junk drawer?  What are the necessary items and what can be pitched?

Here's your challenge:  Clean out that junk drawer and let us know how it went.  If you have a blog, post pics and link them here.  We want to see what kind of progress you made!

With the holidays upon us it's easy to let other things slide but getting organized before all the hoopla begins is a great way to enjoy the most wonderful time of the year!

25 Days of Free Disney Rewards Points

If you haven't joined Disney Movie Rewards yet, then I would highly suggest doing so now! This is a great rewards program… especially if you have kiddos that love Disney movies. Basically every time you purchase a Disney DVD or go see a Disney movie at the movie theater you earn points. Once you've earned enough points, you can then redeem them for a reward! They have lots of different rewards available from electronics to toys, DVDs and more!

Even if you don't buy Disney movies they often offer free codes.  In fact you can snag 125 FREE Points during the month of December! To get your points, each day, head to abcfamily.com 25 Days of Christmas page and look for the Deck the Halls box. After you find the box, click on it and log into your Disney Movie Rewards account . You will automatically have 5 free points added to your account. Do this everyday through December 25th to earn a total of 125 points!

Thanks Hip2Save

Looking for a cute gift for a teacher, mail carrier or bus driver?  Kohl's has a super cute travel mug for under $4 today. Fill it with candy or gift cards for the perfect gift!
Be sure to go through Ebates, MyPoints or some other rebate site.
Price went from $11.99 to $4.49 each.  Enter code NextOrder20 to get 20% off.  Then use FREECCDEC for free shipping!  Not a bad deal and what a fun gift!

Cuddlee Pets...

Are you one of those moms who is protesting the Pillow Pet?  I read a discussion via Facebook concerning this "waste of space" as one mom called it.  My sister gave these to my kids last Christmas before anyone really knew what these things were.  I saw them before they went under the tree and I have to admit, I too was skeptical.
Guess what?  My kids *love* these things AND pack them every time they spend the night outside our home.  *LOVE*
The ORIGINAL Pillow Pet can run you almost $20+ but you might check out this Cuddlee Pet if you want a deal.

These can be found at www.1saleaday.com.  With their shipping costs at $7.98, your total is $10.97.  Almost half the price of the "Pillow Pet" brand.

Just Say No to the Sale

We have had this discussion before, just because something is on sale doesn't mean you need it (Groupons are a prime example!)  This time of year it is difficult for many of us to not get caught up in all the deals and stay on budget.  I used to hate the "b" word, my husband is the budgeter. He often says that I like to "save money by spending it". And there is truth to that. However, after we got on the same page about our budget (thanks to Financial Peace University- check out Dave Ramsey ad at the bottom of the page.) I now see the light on budget matters and I don't impulse buy anymore (well, as much!).  Mercedes at Common Sense with Money just wrote a great post entitled Sometimes the Best Deal is No Deal.  Thanks for reminding me to keep things in perspective, especially this time of year.

Columbus and Online Groupon 12/3: Spa Package and Red Envelope

I am not familiar with the spa in today's Groupon for Columbus, but it sounds amazing!  Do you still need a gift for a BFF, sister or to drop a hint to your hubby?  Check it out, with today's Groupon: for $59, you get a spa package that includes a Swedish massage, the Simply Yours custom facial, Precision haircut and style, and the Fantasy Tan spray tan (a $215 value) at Artemis Revolution in Dublin.  That is a 73% discount.  These Groupons are great marketing tools for local businesses, but often they are for places we have never heard of before.  If you know about this day spa let us know, good or bad.  That way others can make a more informed choice! Thanks!

Columbus' side deal today, available to everyone, is $15 for $30 worth of items from Red Envelope.

Further increase your chances of earning bucks by referring friends, using the Swag Bucks toolbar, following the Swag Bucks Twitter stream, watching videos on Swag Bucks TV, reading the Swag Bucks Facebookpage and blog

Free Tickets to Disney on Ice in Columbus

I just saw this on Stretching a Buck and knew many of our Columbus readers would be interested.  Here is what she had to say about getting free tickets to Disney on Ice in January.

Columbus Area Readers: Disney On Ice presents Princess Classics is coming to Nationwide Arena from January 19-23, 2011, and here is a great opportunity to do a good deed and get something great in return!  The YWCA Family Center is holding its 4th Annual Diaper Drop on December 11, 2010.  The Family Center provides emergency food and shelter for homeless families, and helps them find permanent housing.  The family center hands out about 3,000 diapers a month, and the Diaper Drop brought in 9,000 diapers last year. Of course they would love to beat that number this year! :-)

Disney On Ice and Feld Entertainment is donating 500 ticket vouchers to be handed out in exchange for unopened packages of diapers. The tickets will be good for either the Wednesday (1/19/2011) or Thursday (1/20/2010) night performance of Disney On Ice presents Princess Classics.  Limit of 2 vouchers per family.

Stop by the Nationwide Arena's box office lobby on December 11th, 2010 between 10 am and noon to donate diapers and receive your free voucher. The YWCA Family Center especially needs Pull-Ups in sizes 4, 5, and 6.

To get more ticket information or to purchase tickets call 1-800-745-3000 or visit Ticket Master. For more information about Disney on Ice, look here.

On the 3rd day of Sharing ... Buy one 12-pack of Starbucks VIA, get one free! It isn't 3 French hens, but it will probably be easier to get through airport security with.

New Ghirardelli Printable Coupons

There are two new Ghirardelli chocolate coupons out on coupons.com.  Use these for a sweet Christmas gift or save them for after Christmas (exp. 12/31/10)  to see if you can score them on clearance too.  I often see them with the lovely red clearance tag at Target after Christmas.

Tis the Season...

Tis the Season to make Gingerbread houses, according to a friend I've known most of my life.  Here are Lia's words concerning this awesome idea.  Best part?  It comes in a kit from Aldi!  $6!!!

I have to recommend the gingerbread house kit from Aldi! Only $6. The icing comes ready to use in a pointed bag - no mixing! The plastic insert has canals to support the house and figures - no supports needed. And the designs for the doors, windows and scalloped roof are already carved into the gingerbread! Almost easy enough for the kids to complete themselves! Love it!

Thanks Lia!!!

Hallmark $5 Off $5 Printable 12/3-12/5

Don't get the magzines that had the $5 off Hallmark coupons inside.  Not to worry! Hallmark has released a printable coupon for $5 off any purchase of $5 or more at any Hallmark Gold Crown store.  This printable is only vaild December 3-5 2010.

You should be able to get some things for FREE or greatly discounted with this coupon.  I used my 2 coupons from the magazines to get aspen mullings spice and a Chanukah/Christmas card for free.  And with the other I purchased a Vera Bradley id holder for only $7.  So yes they can be used toward non-Hallmark items.  Gift wrap, small box of chocolates?  What are you getting free?
