Mega Swag Bucks Friday!

Today is Friday which means it is Mega Swag Bucks Day! That means Swag Bucks is giving away upwards of 400,000 Swag Bucks today - and you can earn anywhere from 30-1000 for one search.

What are Swag Bucks, exactly? They are electronic bucks that you earn for searching the web - something that most of us do every day right? You can then redeem these for items such as Amazon.com gift cards, Starbucks gift cards, Southwest Airlines credits plus more. Further increase your chances of earning bucks by referring friends, using the Swag Bucks toolbar, following the Swag Bucks Twitter stream, and reading the Swag Bucks Facebookpage and blog.

And did you earn the 23 Swag Bucks by entering the Cloud B sweeps on FB?  Check out the Special Offers wall for a few quick "bucks".  Also don't forget you can earn 4 bucks every day for the following: clicking thru the no obligation special offers (NOSO), answering thedaily poll, having the tool bar installed and visiting the trusted surveys page.  Do the math, if you did these 4 things everyday for a year you could earn over $15 in Amazon gift cards!

This Sunday's Newspaper Inserts

This Sunday the 3rd (yeah, October already!) you should see 3 coupon inserts in the paper. Look for Red Plum, Smart Source and General Mills. For a list of included coupons visit www.sundaycouponpreview.com

Avoid Deal Induced Stress: Rain check!

This week I am reminded of another great tool in the couponer's arsenal, the raincheck. Twice this week. I have attempted to buy a hot deal, only to find it is sold out: CVS Vitality toothbrush and Strawberry Shortcake Cruiser. In both instances I asked about rain checks and was answered with a reassuring, YES! A raincheck it a slip of paper that indicates the current sale price for a certain unavailable item. Once the item is back in stock you can redeem your raincheck slip at the sale price listed. At CVS, I was not only given a rain check with the sale price indicated, but it also states that I will be issued the Extra Care Bucks associated with the sale ad. With the Strawberry Shortcake deal, I was a little smarter and called first before making a special trip. Of course I was told they are out of stock and that they might come on the truck in the morning. So again, I asked about a rain check and she assured me that they do issue rain checks on sale items. So tomorrow morning, I will head over to TRU with the hope of bringing home two sweetly scented cruisers, but I'm not worried about it. Because I know I can fall back on a trusty tool to get my deal in the end!

What has been your experience with rain checks? Do you think they could alleviate some stress?

Strawberry Shortcake Cruiser Deals

Here is another great deal to make use of those Hasbro MQ from last Sunday's insert. The following scenario is for Toys R Us:

Buy 2 Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cruiser Sets $14.99 ea at TRU
Use one $5/$25 Purchase Coupon
Use two $10 Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cruiser Coupons (9/26 insert)
Final price= $2.49 each after coupons

Or if you are at Kroger Marketplace picking up your 2 free Littlest Pet Shop critters you could get the Cruiser there.

Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cruiser Sets $15.99 at Kroger Marketplace
$10 Strawberry Shortcake Berry Cruiser Coupon (9/26 insert)
Final price= $5.99

If your store is out of the item, don't forget to ask for a rain check using the sale price. Then you can still catch this deal once they come back in stock. Either way it is a great deal. I think I might try the TRU deal. My daughter turns 4 in November and this would be perfect for her. The other will go in my "gift closet" for when I need an impromptu birthday gift, Toys for Tots or other donation.

Thanks to Common Sence with Money for the TRU tip.

Land’s End Free Shipping and Clearance

I just received a Land's End Catalog in the mail. Currently they have a free shipping offer going on (untill 10/4). There is no minimum purchase on this offer so it should pair nicely on some of their sale priced items. Enter FEELGOOD and pin 7201. I have been wanting a pair of purple shoes, so I bought these cute ones for only $8.32 shipped (can you tell we both have a shoe thing?!). I also like that you can make returns to Sears stores if something doesn't quite work. And lower your out of pocket even more with the following cash back sites:

Big Crumbs: 4.8%

Ebates: 3%

ShopatHome: 3%

What did you find to fill your "cart"?

I LOVE!

My all time favorite place to buy shoes is Nordstrom, I mean DSW. I love to browse in Nordstrom but the price tag alone causes hives to break out all over my body.  Since I can't shop in Nordstrom without causing physical harm to myself, I hit up DSW whenever I need shoes.  (I SOOO wish they sold kids shoes!!!)

We have a DSW in town so usually I go there to try the shoes on, get the sku # and then buy them online.  Right now they have a pretty sweet deal going.  Buy 1 pair, save $5.  Buy 2, save $15, Buy 3, save $25!  Not a bad deal!  Tell us what you found at DSW! And don't forget to go to EBATES to get 4% cash back!

Additional note from Mary: I too LOVE DSW.  One of the awesome things about DSW is that you can stack up to 3 promo codes. And what a coincidence, I received a postcard from them today (become a DSW Rewards member to get these mailings).  From Oct 7-12 you can get a free Josette handbag and coin purse with any purchase of $39.95 or more.  Here is the code for online: JOSETTE (items # 211673, put it in your "cart" first).  Great shoes at great prices and a free bag!

Catalina for Dan-o-nino Yogurt

Today I received a Catalina notice informing me of one of their offers starting next week at Kroger.  From 10/4-10/31 you can earn up to $2.00 via a Catalina on Dannon Dan-o-nino yogurt: Buy 2 get $1, buy 3 get $1.50, buy 4 get $2.  Hopefully Kroger will keep these on sale next week too.  Right now they are on sale for $1.88.  Use coupons and this could be a great steal.  I really like this product, good source of calcium and vit D and lower sugar than other kid yogurts.  It is a great little snack or as a "side" to cereal at breakfast.  My kids love to eat them like a popsicle (I poke a plastic spoon into the top and freeze them).  Hopefully the scenario will look like this:

Dan-o-nino 6 pack yogurt-$1.88

Buy 3

Use $0.55 Dan-o-nino MQ (SS 9/12, exp 10/12)
and/or $1 Dan-o-nino MQ (From Kroger School days mailer)

Final price=  as low as $2.34 for all 3

Plus $2 OYNO Catalina, like getting all 3 for $0.34

Are you asking what is a Catalina?   A Catalina (sometimes Cat for short) is a coupon you receive for promotions the manufacturer offers to customers for additional savings. They are the pieces of paper that print out of the machine next to the register at stores like Kroger, Meijer and Walgreens. Catalinas come in two forms: On Your Next Order (OYNO) $ off coupons and Manufactures coupons.  I have posted pictures of these so you know what to look for.  Catalinas are just another great way to reduce your out of pocket (OOP) expense.

2 FREE Littlest Pet Shop at Kroger

I was excited to see that in addition to the Playsaver printables from Hasbro, they also have an insert of coupons in today's paper (9/26, Separate Playsaver Insert from Hasbro w/in the SS insert).  One of the coupons included in this insert (not available to print) is a BOGO Littlest Pet Shop Collectibles.  The Kroger Marketplace ad has these listed on sale, Buy 1,Get 1 Free. This should be able to score you 2 free critters!  I hope to get to a Kroger tomorrow to check this out.  If you try it, let us know if it worked!  These are the perfect size to fill Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes in November.
